Mary Gleasure SMISCP. MAACP.

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, 2007 Specialist in Sports Medicine, DIP SportsPsychology. DIP Nutrition, Chartered Physiotherapist.

In 2007 Mary was the sole recipient in Ireland of the title of specialist in Sports Medicine award. This award was presented at the 2007 Annual conference of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. This was presented in recognition of her experience on Sports, Biomechanics and Spinal Physiotherapy treatment in a range of athletes. In 2010 she also received level three sports accreditation for achieving the International Federation of Sports Physiotherapy highest level.

  • Graduated in 1999 with Honours in a Bachelors of Science degree in Physiotherapy and joined the Chartered Society of physiotherapy and the Irish society of chartered physiotherapy.
  • Diploma in Sports Psychology with Distinction.
  • Diploma in Diet, Fitness and Health with Distinction.
  • Mary has completed an extensive number of chartered physiotherapy postgraduate courses including spinal manual therapy, biomechanics and acupuncture.
  • Designated chartered physiotherapist for the Athletic Association of Ireland (AAI) and Irish Olympic team including professional athletes since 2000.
  • Mary has also lectured on anatomy, physiology and injury prevention for UCC.
  • Involved in Munster rugby senior and developmental squads from 2001 to 2003 seasons with Nikki Davies.,
  • Provided physiotherapy for Paralympic games (1999 to present day) and Special Olympics.
  • Completed training as expert witness for medical-legal court cases.

Michaela Sheehan MISCP.

GRAD DIP Physiotherapy, Chartered Physiotherapist.

Michael Sheehan qualified in 1991 from The Withington School of Physiotherapy under the aspices of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy in the U.K. Michaela worked mainly in various Cork Hospitals until 2000. Since then she has been working in private practice. She completed a number of orthopaedic, spinal and manual therapy oriented physiotherapy courses.

Michaela has a special interest in treatment of Incontinence. As a mother of 6 children, she understands the importance of a strong pelvic floor. On you first visit a comprehensive medical history will be taken. This will be followed by a through spinal and pelvic examination. Following this, a detailed treatment plan will be discussed with you.

For the treatment of Female and Male pelvic dydfunction: Stress Incontinence, Male pelvic pain, Painful intercourse, Vaginal prolapse, Vuluodynia, Defaecation problems, Chronic prostatitis, Vaginismus, Coccydynia, Anismus, Pre & post natal care, Post prostatectomy incontinence.

Eric Wolfe MISCP. MAACP.

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, Chartered Physiotherapist.

Eric Wolfe is a member of the Irish Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.  He graduated from King's College London in 1999 following a four-year degree course.

On graduating he completed his rotational experience in Greenwich Hospital London, before specialising in musculo-skeletal outpatients in Queen Elizabeth Hospital London.  On traveling to New Zealand he continued to gain experience in musculo-skeletal injuries when working there as a Physiotherapist in Private Practice.

Returning to Ireland in 2003 he took up work at The Cork Therapy Centre where he combined this with being the Physiotherapy for Cork City FC for the 2004 Season.  He now works solely at The Cork Therapy Centre both in Tower and at the Mardyke Arena, UCC.

Eric is a keen sports person and takes part at a competitive level in Triathlons, Running, Cycling and Mountain biking. He has a special interest in sports physiotherapy and rehabilitation, having worked for numerous soccer, rugby, and G.A.A. clubs.

Eric practices a hands-on approach to treatment employing a wide variety of manually orientated techniques including dry needling. He maintains an up to date repertoire of skills as a result of completing courses regularly.

Emma Robertson MISCP. MCSP. CPVP.

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy, Chartered Physiotherapist & Veterinary Physiotherapist.

Emma graduated Glasgow Caledonian University in 2003. Initially she worked in out-patients in hospital in her native Argyll on the west coast of Scotland as well as undertaking voluntary work with her local soccer team.

In July 2004 she moved to Cork where she worked in a private practice in Ballincollig until May 2006 when she joined Cork Therapy Centre.  In February 2006 she took up a position as physiotherapist to Cork City Football Club which she held for two seasons while maintaining part-time work in the clinic.  Currently Emma is working 3 days per week in Cork Therapy Centre and still maintains a special interest in sports physiotherapy, treating athletes from amateur to international level in many disciplines including soccer, GAA, martial arts and athletics.

In September 2010 Emma completed post-graduate training in Veterinary Physiotherapy and is working part-time in this field, primarily treating horses and dogs.

She has also completed a number of orthopaedic, spinal and manual therapy oriented physiotherapy courses including dry needling.

Claire Griffin MISCP.

BSc (Hons) MSc Physiotherapy, Chartered Physiotherapist.

Graduating with a Masters in Physiotherapy from the University of Ulster at Jordanstown in 2005, Claire is currently a member of the Irish Society of Physiotherapists and Chartered Physiotherapists in Private Practice. She has a special interest in sports physiotherapy, and has treated athletes at international level.

She initially worked in the Bon Secours Hospital in Cork from 2005 to 2007, before joining the Cork Therapy Centre on a full time basis in 2007.

Claire is a keen sports person, and takes part in regular running and cycling training.  She trains and competes with Leevale AC and won her first competition earlier this year, the Munster Novice Road Championships, winning silver for Club and County.  Claire was team physiotherapist for Highfield RFC (Juniors) 2009 – 2010.

Claire has completed a number of postgraduate chartered physiotherapy postgraduate musculoskeletal, orthopaedic, spinal, manual therapy and biomechanical courses, and has a particular interest in myofascial pain, employing a highly successful technique called dry needling of myofascial trigger points.  She undertakes regular courses to improve her skills.

Claire also lectures FETAC Level 6 and ITEC Anatomy and Physiology for Fitness Instructors, as well as teaching Spinal Anatomy and Back Care as part of Manual Handling Instructors' Course.

The Cork Therapy Centre is located in Unit 4, Tower Shopping Centre, Tower, Blarney, Co. Cork. It is a purpose designed physiotherapy clinic with an on site air-conditioned gym and rehab area, three treatment rooms, reception area, private toilet facilities and a large car park. This centre combines the expertise of chartered physiotherapists. Mary Gleasure, Eric Wolfe, Michaela Sheehan, Emma Robertson, Claire Griffin are the principle physiotherapist of the clinic.

Physiotherapy provision at the Cork Therapy Centre is aimed at providing hands-on, evidence based treatment with a thorough approach to biomechanical analysis and future injury prevention by chartered physiotherapists.
